Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), also known as ‘The Gentle Touch massage’ is one of the most relaxing and beneficial treatments available and can benefit just about anyone.
The unique Vodder method of MLD is a specialised form of light rhythmical, circular skin manipulation, using no oils or powders; moving the skin over the underlying tissues triggers the musculature of the lymphatic system to contract to help remove excess fluid, waste products and toxins from the body.
MLD plays a valuable part in the treatment of lymphoedema which causes excessive amounts of fluid to be retained in the body causing swelling of the limbs or body (lymphoedema may develop after surgery or treatment for cancer).
MLD is also perfect for stress and pain control and is widely used in the treatment of skin rejuvenation and chronic skin conditions, trauma injuries, varicose veins or ulcerous legs, even migraine.
Its numerous health benefits means it now sits comfortably in the worlds of both traditional western and complementary medicine and is an accepted treatment within rehabilitation units, physiotherapy departments and massage departments worldwide.
Common uses/benefits of MLD include:
